1. Tell us a little about yourself.

I am newer to Florida, I moved here a little bit over a year ago from Chicago. I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Clinical Nutrition (Dietetics) but have ended up in sales for 6 years doing consultative selling to companies with managing their supply chains. I love animals! I have 4 dogs (1 pitbull and 3 frenchies) and a Panther Chameleon. My boyfriend and I also breed French Bulldogs. I love being outdoors, so moving here was one of the best decisions since you can be outside year around! 🙂

2. Have you done other styles of Yoga other than hot yoga at Thavma?

I have done Core Power, and I have done Vinyasa flow at other hot yoga studios before moving here from Chicago.

3. What made you decide to take your first Thavma Class?

I decided to go to yoga due to unbearable lower back pain.

4. What made you choose Thavma Yoga as a Studio?

I decided to try out Thavma due to the good reviews when I was doing my research, and it being close to where I live.

5. What was your first Bikram yoga experience like?

The first time I did Bikram yoga I hated it. I wanted to leave the class, but I don’t quit something I start. I thought that it was boring, and too slow for me.

6. What makes you come back?

What motivates me to come back each time is the progress I have made. I no longer have the back pain that I did. The flexibility and balance I have found in such a short period of time keeps me motivated. I was never able to find my balance on one leg that I do now, my runs don’t feel as tight, and the recovery time from other activities are shorter.

7. How long have you been practicing?

I have been practicing about a month and a half.

8. What changes have you seen since you began the practice? Where have you seen that yoga helps you?

I have noticed changes mentally and physically. Yoga takes patience and repetition going farther each time. I have learned not to rush things, and to be patient with my body (small victories). I have noticed pain that is no longer in my left knee and lower back.
I have seen that yoga has helped me a ton with running. I have shaved time off of my pace, and I’m not as tight when I go for my runs in my legs, hips, and IT bands.

9. What is your favorite pose?

I can’t decide it is between: dancer pose, pigeon, or camel.

10. What is your least favorite pose?

Rabbit is my least favorite.

11. What do you like most about Thavma Yoga?

How open and friendly all the instructors are. I liked how when I first came the instructor knew so much about back pain and went out of their way to help me. Also, the knowledge between all of the instructors, and how challenging the classes are.
