Tell us a little about yourself?
I am a senior at The Out-of-Door Academy. I am a very athletic person. I play soccer and lacrosse and am hoping to play lacrosse in college.

Have you done other styles of Yoga other then Bikram Yoga?
No, Bikram Yoga is the first and only type of yoga I’ve done.

What made you decide to take your first Bikram Class?
My mom actually has been practicing at Thavma for about 2 months and finally persuaded me to take a class, I loved it!

Why did you choose Thavma Bikram Yoga Studio?
I chose Thavma Yoga Studio because my mom goes to this studio but also because it is so close to where I live.

What was your first Bikram yoga experience like?
HARD. I didn’t really know what to expect and was kind of frazzled by how much I was sweating. The whole time I was thinking ‘Ok Abby you got this just get through it’ and during the class I wasn’t planning on coming back. But after class I felt so loose and great that I came back the next day.

What makes you come back?
The good vibes that the teachers give off in and out of class. They always have encouraging things to say and know how to push me to my limit.

How long have you been practicing?
I recently started practicing, but have been so happy with it that I am trying to practice daily!

What changes have you seen since you began the practice?
I am way more flexible than I use to be! Also, I have a better attitude and calm mind.

Where have you seen that it helps you?
Bikram Yoga helps me with my breathing. I have asthma and it makes me focus and control my breathing. Also, I feel that the added flexibility I am achieving through yoga will help me with lacrosse as well.

What is your Favorite pose?
My favorite pose is the Standing bow because I have to use all of my body’s muscle to balance while still focusing on my breathing. The intensity and seeing my foot above my head is so rewarding.

What is your Least favorite pose?
I can’t say I have a least favorite pose but if I had to choose one it would be the Full Locust because it stretches and pulls arm muscles that I’ve never felt before which really makes me challenge myself.

What do you like most about Thavma Bikram Yoga?
What I like most about Thavma Bikram Yoga are the teachers. They are so enlightening and positive.
