Meet Thavma's leading personalities: Nataly Nusbaumer

The Thavma Edit: Nataly

Thavma’s leading personalities.

Quiet demeanor. Colombian fire.

Natalaki ( as I like to call her), Meet her outside the studio and you’ll notice her sweet, soft-spoken demeanor. Take her class and you’ll meet the fire. And if our song comes on? Well, that’s a whole other introduction. 😉

For our first edition of The Thavma Edit, I wanted you to get to know the Nataly I know: warm, funny, a girls’ girl, and full of surprises.

If your class came with a completely honest label, what would it say?

“A little fire, a little flow, and an accent you’ll learn to love.”

Marina’s note: Learn to love? We already love it. The Colombian accent, the mannerisms, the delivery. It’s the whole Nataly experience.

What would your students lovingly roast you for?

“Occasionally inventing a new English phrase mid-class. English is my second language, so sometimes you get yoga with a little creative translation.”

Marina’s note: As a Greek woman, I’m certainly not in a position to judge anyone’s creative English. 😂 Sometimes our version just says it better.

What’s your most controversial opinion that has absolutely nothing to do with yoga?

“Being overdressed is only awkward if you decide it is.”

Marina’s note: I wholeheartedly agree. If you know me, you know I’m never going to tell you to dress down.

A first-timer is hiding in the back row. What do you want them to know?

“You can stay in the back row. Give yourself permission to be new! I’m still going to check on you, though… the back row doesn’t make you invisible.”

Marina’s note: This makes me smile because it’s something I care deeply about. You can choose your spot, but I want every person in our room to feel seen. I love knowing Nataly carries that into her classes.

What’s one detail about how we teach that you wish everyone knew before their first class?

“This is a safe space to be yourself, leave your ego at the door, and listen to your body as you move at your own pace. We’re here to support you, encourage you, and help you feel good in your practice. We all had a first class.”

Marina’s note: I never expect you to walk in knowing everything. That’s why we teach. Bring your questions, your uncertainty, and the body you have today. Let us help you understand it a little better.

What’s something you used to believe about fitness or your body that Thavma changed your mind about?

“I used to think fitness was mostly about how you look, but THAVMA helped me see how much it’s about discipline, understanding your body, and taking care of your health. When you stay consistent, the results follow.”

Marina’s note: Of course I love feeling good in my clothes. But I also want strength I can use, movement I understand, and a body I can keep enjoying life in. Hearing Nataly describe that shift means so much to me.

What’s something your students would never guess about you?

“I got my law degree in Colombia!”

Marina’s note: Yes, my Natalaki has a law degree. Keep that in mind the next time you try to negotiate your way out of holding a posture. 😉

What do you secretly love hearing a student say after class?

“‘I’m so glad I came, I needed this.’ Knowing someone feels better than when they walked in means so much to me.”

Marina’s note: I know that feeling so well. Sometimes the student who almost didn’t come is the one who needed that hour most. Knowing we helped make their day better stays with us, too.

Come meet Nataly:

I’m proud of the care she brings to our community, and I love that you get to know a little more of the person I’m lucky to have on my team.

Book a class with her. Give yourself permission to be new. And listen closely, you might leave with a new favorite English phrase.

With love,
Marina
